  • Frequent Delays

    I click on the app hoping to make a quick stream selection, and Nope. Instead I am waiting for the app to load. It seems like 60% of the time this app has delayed loading. I don’t have that problem with Netflix. HBO, this message is for you —> YOUR APP IS EXPENSIVE. GOT fans can get the saga on disc. Your competition has a greater selection of movies & shows with minimal delays and is More Cost Efficient . Fix your Bugs and it’s delays or you will be left behind in modern day streaming dust.
  • Makes no sense

    Y’all have dozens of streaming apps now to look at and learn from, there is no excuse for the complete lack of awareness when it comes to functionality. Why isn’t a simple function like “play next” something obvious to you? People get upset at Netflix for even asking if they’re still watching after three episodes, I shouldn’t have to keep going back to the app or show to go to the next episode. First world problem, absolutely, but I shouldn’t be getting better service from YouTube, a free app, or Netflix, a cheaper one. That being said, I watch mostly on my iPad, and like to do other things while watching/listening, and this app does have a very functional screen in screen feature, whereas YouTube (my main squeeze) doesn’t really have one, and you have to pay for premium to have the audio continue to play in the background.
  • Why???

    Well I’d gotten very excited about being able to binge watch Game of Thrones, but after reading the reviews and seeing multiple complaints about the same issues, I’ll stick to being a Walking Dead fan! I see no updates so I’ll keep my money for the Janet Jackson Black Diamond Tour! Hope she doesn’t pick HBO to do the live airing with!!!! So disappointed!!!!
  • Lazy app on Apple TV

    This is the slowest and least useable app I’ve ever tried on Apple TV. They should be ashamed for 0 effort given to make it at all good.
  • Browsing is so slow

    Browsing for programming is so slow and the lists are so long. If I don’t know what I am already looking for, I don’t even bother opening the app to find something.

  • Glitch when watching a series.

    I love HBO the content is absolutely great, but this app has some issues. For instance when watching my tv series I can watch one episode and then I’m stuck on this black screen waiting or the blue dots and then nothing shows up, not even the screen where I can skip ten seconds ahead. I have tired closing the app and reopening it then having to go back to the series to click on my episode, but I have to do this serval times before I actually get it to work. I have searched for an update that would fix the bugs but nothing yet. I do realize there is a new HBO Max coming out soon but until then we all would appreciate app being updated for better viewing experience.
  • Minimalistic & Overpriced

    HBO Now offers the barest of streaming services. When other streaming apps offer downloads for offline viewing HBO Now doesn’t. When other streaming apps offer lower, more competitive pricing HBO Now doesn’t. When other streaming apps offer an ad free viewing experience HBO Now doesn’t, and instead forces viewers to endure promos for other HBO movies and shows. HBO does offer some great exclusive content but I don’t see a reason to continually stay subscribed when they charge $15 a month. I can see everything I want within a month or two and then I’ll cancel my subscription for a while because it’s simply to expensive compared to other streaming services that offer more for less.
  • Never been great functionality now won’t play anything at all

    I’ve had the app for years now and while there have always been some bugs and bad design issues with this app, about a month ago it stopped playing shows altogether. I get the blue loading dots for a few seconds then the screen goes black and nothing happens not even an error message. It’s not my connection (Netflix, Hulu and Showtime via Apple TV is working fine as usual, I can stream two of them at once so there is absolutely no slowing of my internet speed) and I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling a few times. Still nothing. It’s more expensive than all 3 other streaming services I pay for - expect a refund for the last month - so I’ve canceled my subscription. Helpfully HBO who ignored my messages for months did send me an email in reply to this. Giving me trouble shooting advice that covered the steps I already said in the the review I’ve taken. Then asked if I would like to update my review so I did. Ignores long term paying customer getting zero service. Only responds when a public review is left and the response ignores the actual issue. So yeah my updated review is that the Starz and Showtime apps I’ve replaced HBO with are better. The only thing I’ll miss programming wise is John Oliver but as I can’t watch him anyway I guess that’s not a miss either.
  • Terrible app

    Honestly this app isn’t even worth a 1-star rating. I am thoroughly disappointed in the quality of this app. Freezes all the time. HBO need to fix this ASAP! And let all customers know when its available the updates . Horrific app.
