  • Great!

Super helpful to use for word games like scrabble, bungle, etc. It’s now our official authority and dictionary!
  • A plethora of words and definitions...

This dictionary lives up to its name, Oxford. For me, there’s one drawback. I am disappointed because, unlike other dictionary apps that I have, I expected a thesaurus to be included.

Seriously who are we kidding here, the standard is set by the vehicle none other! Don”t cross the Pond without it!
  • Awesome

I use it almost everyday and it has been helpful for my philosophy classes.
  • Minimal information

I expected better from the OED, particularly since this is a paid app. Definitions are very short, derivations often not provided. My Funk & Wagnalls, purchased decades ago, is far better. I just looked for the word “flout” and it isn’t even in the dictionary. Omissions like this detract from the value of this app.
  • Started out great ...

I paid $9.99 for this app about three months ago and really loved it. I’m a big fan of OED. Then it started acting wonky. Instead of a definition I’d get a list of numbers and letters. I finally deleted it and reinstalled it and was charged $9.99. I wrote to the contact line and didn’t hear back. It was fun while it lasted.
  • OED 2018

My husband and I use this app when playing Scrabble, and we’re neither of us novices. Most often we look for obsolete words, obscure meanings or forms, alternate spellings, or new words and technical jargon. This app just doesn’t have enough words. Lucky we have a real, offline, unupdated OED for when the app falls short. I also read for my local library’s version of The Extreme Book Nerd Project and a book club or two. When I don’t know the meaning of a word, the app is usually pretty good for that.
  • Very informative app

Love the app never knew a definition was more than a sentence
  • Word of the day

    By Maddie1117
Overall this is a decent app. I use it to look up unfamiliar words and like the pronunciation feature. I’ve been a bit disappointed in the word of the day because the words fall mostly into two categories for me, obvious (half-starved) or obscure (names of people or ancient cities).
