    I really don’t understand all the rave reviews. At all. I got one of these games because it was free that day and forgot to play. Got another because I saw it was free and remembered the series, played a few levels, thought, aww, it’s cute, and felt bad about the two free ones so I bought the third. So I have 3 of them, and I’ve played them all through the main levels, veteran, and on the two “harder” levels purely because I’m stubborn af, but I feel I can speak with authority. The balance is *awful.* I probably wouldn’t have played veteran, but I quickly discovered that there’s just no appreciable difference between casual and veteran play, in spite of the illustrations of the cute little wide-eyed novice hero contrasted with the grizzled, brutish veteran. If you can beat a main level, I promise you can beat it on veteran. So... why bother to have a pretend sliding scale? And that’s for all three games. Also, for plenty of levels the “challenge” versions are actually significantly easier, which is also weird. But then the extra levels that open after you beat the main quest? Okay, maybe they just are too hard for me, (again though, it’s a weirdly steep jump in skill requirement then because I can get through even the hard main levels with a few tries) but as far as I can figure they’re less strategy game and more watch-the-included-video-and-do-exactly-what-they-did. And I mean EXACTLY. It’s not enough to place the towers they say, where they say, and upgrade to the version they say, but you, you upgraded the mage tower on the left by one before you upgraded the mage tower on the right path by one? Nope, you’re defeated, start over. Like I said, less strategy than Simon-says, so why bother to pretend? But I’d forgive the unnecessarily “difficult” (only beatable with their EXACT strategy) extra levels if the main levels were better balanced. I played this one first, out of order, and yeah, it’s cute, moderately fun through the main quests, with pointless “bonus” levels. I’d probably have rated higher if my expectations hadn’t been raised by all the phenomenal reviews (that I seriously feel betrayed me xP ...what games did you people play??? Where do I download *those?) as it is I’m really let down. Kudos to the artist(s) though. (One extra note, other tower defenses I’ve played have had some sort of speed toggles, which I would have liked on this one, since on harder levels that do require several tries, the first few waves are usually still pretty easy and slow to give you a chance to build up a bit before they slam you and it would be nice to have some way to speed the replay through those, especially if the wave that you’re struggling to figure out is a later one, like a new boss or group or combo that doesn’t show up until wave 10 of 15 or something? It would be nice to speed the timing on the first 9 to get back to 10, rather than having to wait on the spawn and movement speed as long as it takes to get back to it. This one isn’t a deal breaker, just something I’ve seen in other games of this type that I kept looking for and being annoyed when I remembered *again it’s not a thing here so I just have to wait.)

    Pros •Progressive and fun profile building •Great and easy to use mechanics •Interface is easy to understandable and mostly responsive •Deep roster of unlockable/playable characters •High replay value for hero building •Just plain fun Con’s •Experienced some issues with response accuracy when commanding hero/unit. Could be device related •My one major complaint is the Pause, Replay and Quit menu. In the heat of rounds it is easy to accidentally hit the pause button and accidentally quit the game. This has happened more than a few times. Very frustrating when in deep play. A Quit Confirmation would easily remedy this.
