GyPSy Guide’s narrated driving tour for the Road to Hana, Maui is an excellent way to enjoy all the benefits of a guided tour while you explore at your own pace. There are 140+ audio points that play automatically along the scenic drive, featuring the best things to see and do, stories, tips and driving directions. Professional tour guides share advice on how to prioritize your time at recommended “not to be missed” viewpoints, suggested side-trips and places of interest. Tours work offline, using free GPS signal and location services, so no data roaming, network, or wifi is required while touring. It’s Just Like Having a Tour Guide in Your Car™ WHAT TO EXPECT: The Road to Hana is one of the world’s most scenic drives and a popular sightseeing activity to see Maui’s spectacular waterfalls, black sand beaches, bamboo forests, lava rock formations and amazing ocean views as you wind your way through 620 curves and 59 bridges. If you prefer travelling independently, at your own pace, GyPSy Guide provides the best Road to Hana tour experience, along with the freedom to choose what you enjoy; squishing the black sand between your toes at Wai’anapanapa, hiking the Pipiwai Bamboo Trail, or maybe time to enjoy an extra slice of banana bread. You can’t help but cheer on the world class windsurfers at Ho’okipa. And you won’t need to worry about photoshopping the Rainbow Eucalyptus at the Ke’anae Arboretum or the stunning contrast between blue water and black lava rock at Ke’anae Peninsular. Take a moment to cool off with a quick swim at the pristine Hamoa Beach and see where Haleakala National Park descends from the summit to the sea and the “Seven Sacred Pools” of Oheo at the end of the drive. With such a long day of exploring (expect 8-12 hours), it’s important to know the 5 “not to be missed” stops, and the many more suggestions if you have time. Part of the secret to enjoying the journey is knowing how not to waste your time, and we have tips for that as well. On the return drive from Hana, we’ll point out the not to be missed stops again as well as tell you stories about Hawaii’s fascinating history and rich culture. Please note Highway #31 ‘backside route’ is not recommended for driving. Rental car insurance void. Road can be closed for repairs, mudslides and flash floods. WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Some of the highlights along the route include; • Ho’okipa Beach Park • Paia • Ke’anae Peninsular • Wai’anapanapa Park, Black Sand Beach • Hana • Hamoa Beach • Wailua Falls • Twin Falls • Upper Waikanai Falls (3 Bears) • Pools of O’heo (Seven Sacred Pools) • Pipiwai Bamboo Trail BATTERY USAGE: ++ Continued use of GPS/Location Services in the background increases battery usage. We strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. Avoid using a direct connection to the USB port of a rental vehicle. IPADS: ** iPad models must include a GPS chip. Please note that Apple only install these on the iPad Wifi + Cellular models. Wifi only iPad models have limited location service capabilities and are unable to play commentary automatically. DOWNLOADING: The apps are larger in size in order to work offline. You must be on wifi to download as the store may block the download over cellular networks. Hi, we found this on a YouTube channel and I must say that this is the best travel app I have ever encountered. The information is spot on the recommendations the right ones. I wish this was available everywhere. Great job!!!
  • Awesome app!!

This was a fantastic guide along the road to Hana! Truly enjoyed the helpful hints and stories in this $7 app more than any actual tour I’ve ever taken. Beautiful scenery and extremely helpful to know what to see along the way. Would highly recommend.
  • Great tour guide

Loved the tips and the history stories. All the warnings and disclaimers in the earlier vignettes were too long and there were too many. I loved how the gps tracked with the car. And I loved that he gave early heads up about the upcoming attractions although some were a little too early.
  • Could not have done Hāna with this app!

This app was so great! It was awesome to hear about history or specifics about each stop as well as some hawaiian history on the way back. It was really helpful for our little family exploring the road to Hana in a Jeep on our own.
  • Hawaiian History excellent

Some of the ‘must sees’ were disappointing. Hawaiian History lesson was informative and enjoyable. App worked extremely well.
  • Do NOT drive to Hana without this app!

We just came back from the full drive past Hana and back. We are all (two parents and two teens) raving about how this app was ‘over the top awesome and incredibly accurate’! Made our first day on Maui feel like we had a virtual personal professional tour guide along for the ride at every turn and stop. And to have so much historical context on the return ride ... we now know so much about the beautiful culture and history of these rich Hawaiian islands. Would rave longer but I am too tired from such a special day with this app! Can’t wait to use same app family for drive up to the summit of Haleakala.. just not tomorrow?!
  • An absolute must for Road to Hana

    By paulstar25
The best money you can spend on your adventure to Hana. The recommendations on where to stop and honesty about which areas to bypass were extremely helpful for a first-timer. Would still use again for return trips too. Also learned a lot about Hawaiian history on the way home that made the drive a lot easier.
  • Great!

Worked great with no cellular signal needed. The narrator has a great voice that’s easy to listen to. Make sure to bring a car charger for your phone. I recommend you have an offline playlist of music running in the background because the narrator only speaks some of the time. When he does, your offline music will automatically lower in volume and his voice will take priority. Pretty sweet! No need to look at the screen at any point during the road to Hana so don’t sweat brining a car mount.
  • A Must-Have for Hana

    By The Good Family
This app is a necessity! Don’t do a professional tour just rent a car and hop in! The voice of the guide is really nice, and he tells stories about each spot and the island itself! We named him Dave and felt like we had a personal tour guide sitting with us!!!
  • Must Have

I couldn’t imagine doing the Hana highway with anything else. He was very thorough and gave you plenty of time before each stop. I like how he was honest about certain pull offs, what was a must see and what was if you had time. The history of the Hawaiian islands on the way back from Hana was extremely interesting and made the time go by quickly. If you get any type of motion sickness you have to have this app, because it saves you so much time searching through books or maps for upcoming stops. You just sit back and relax and he tells you everything. Enjoy the ride!!
