I love this app, but it won’t open any of the lessons now so I can’t use it.

This app used to be great but now I can’t get passed the login/signup. It’s been like this for weeks. I can’t remember my old password, so I thought I’d create a new account with another email but when I go to select a language, an error message pops up. It’s very frustrating.

So basically I was slacking on my spanish when I get the alert from Duolingo going “Spanish or Vanish” and I no joke hopped back on that app and started learning...This is a joke obviously, but either way Duolingo is great

  • Entire sections literally make no sense

Unfortunately i paid for the Spanish version for a year. Once you get past the basic things it's all downhill from there. Literally the section I'm on has you translating Spanish into English in ways that literally no one would EVER speak like in English. I had a sentence say "That shirt, i dont want to buy it" and "That pizza, why don't you try them" literally no one, i mean no one speaks like that. What are they teaching me? I need to get a refund and move on to a better app.

So I’m going to college this fall and I got put into Spanish 2. I took 3 years in high school and am trying to brush off the dust. I think a great addition to the free (as I’m about to be extra broke) is the option to test out of lessons. For example. I remember all the family names from my old days. But it’s rough to go through them as I already know them really well. So it’d be an extensive test like when you start out but for individual lessons
  • Unwanted topics

Duolingo was great until my nephew and I got to the stories. One about a lesbian couple and another about a ouija board and spirits. Not topics that should be approached in a language learning program for all ages.

This app is amazing!!! It doesn't freeze and has little ads. It is very encouraging and teaches you what you missed if you got something wrong. I was bored being in self isolation, and this app makes me feel like I'm making good use of my time! It feels like an app you would pay for, but it is completely free! They will advertise Duolingo Plus, but you can easily learn without it. It, like any other app, has minor issues, but they aren't a very big problem. This is BY FAR THE BEST APP I HAVE EVER USED!!! I absolutely recommend this!!

Be prepared to repeatedly have your progress reset. I have a bit of OCD and this darn app destroys progress rings. I spend just as much time of not more “restoring” my once completed progress rings. I don’t like seeing broken rings. Maddeningly it’s typically the same lessons over and over and over and over again. Not fun. If this isn’t dialed back when my subscription expires, i will not be renewing. I’ve used the feedback button to share screenshots and frustration with no meaningful response. It was my favorite language app until recently.
