  • Don’t get the “7 Day Free Trial”!

    By mgyoung1960
Blinkist sounded like an app I would enjoy as I love to read. However, at least one of my favorite authors was not available on the app so I cancelled the app well prior to the “expiration” of the “free” trial. I was charged $99.99 for a years subscription. Blinks Labs responded promptly at first, but since I provided the receipt and proof of cancellation they asked for, there has been no response. Don’t get this app!!!
  • I agree with demattia!

    By Farkel99
Thus far, what I’ve seen - as a free user - does seem biased. In one case (12/3/19) the blink sounds like a thinly-disguised advertisement for the services of financial advisors. 1 star for content; 5 because the app actually works - gestures are intuitive; 0 because of the way they handle billing after a 7-day trial. Would be more palatable to lock a user out after 7 days, and plainly state ‘If you wish to continue, you MUST agree to . . . .’ one of the following payment plans.
  • I love to read

    By joeyram818
I read 2-3 books a month and always wish I can read faster. I see some readers suggesting skimming thru a book and reading just the highlights of non-fiction so you can read at least 1 book a week. Well, this is it. Of course having the entire book is still the best, but this will help you decide if you want to get the entire physical or audio book after listening or reading from Blinkist. Just try it for 7 days to see if you like it. Try to get books that you’ve read so you can see for yourself.
  • Recommend books?

    By _J_____
I have many books i work for the new york times. It’s a big a** library of old, new and future books! Is there a way to recommend books to get summaries on? Like ‘Mass Psychology’ Or an author like mark douglas? That would be great.

First, the way each book is summarized is incredibly boring—even for books with engaging and funny prose. Each summary is written and read without mimicking the original author’s style or voice. It’s as if Blinkist is trying to shorten every book into an excerpt from a second rate dictionary. The “audio” option Blinkist provides makes this even worst. Each Blinkist summary is read in a monotone voice , with little to no inflection, and absolutely no enthusiasm. I thought that maybe—just maybe—I had just been choosing each Blinkist summary poorly, and decided to stay past the trial to find out. Horrible decision. Each summary is written in such a monotone and uniform fashion, I have to force myself to finish a minute-long summary. Second, the audio only works if you have the Blinkist app open—no scrolling through other feeds or doing anything else. When I decided to finally cancel my subscription for the following month, I realized my fatal mistake. Although Blinkist advertises their monthly subscription, with the trial, you will automatically be charged for their YEARLY subscription. Even the company has no hope that their content is enough to keep customers coming back month to month.
  • Bait and switch? Class Action?

    By WSJoe
I’m very disappointed with Blinkist. I hope they read this and respond. I signed up for the free 1 week trial. I cancelled on the 7th day. On the 8th day I was charged $105.99 for an annual membership. Apple i-tunes said I should have cancelled sooner and denied the refund. Blinkist is yet to respond. Maybe they are mailing me a check? If so, I’ll gladly remove or revise my post. I bet I’m not the first to encounter this experience with an App and with I-tunes. Please return my email, Team Blinkist. I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Good app but has some bad bugs

    By Nazzzah
Good app with useful content. I wish there was a true black mode. My major issue right now is that the non-white mode is broken - the text changes to black when I swipe to go to the next page. It’s unreadable.
