No QR scanner?? Used Grocery IQ for years. Loved scanning empty packages to add to list. No scanner...no good.

My wife asked me to help out more with meal preparation. I really needed some help, including finding good recipes and managing grocery shopping . I checked out several grocery list Apps and chose AnyList as it seemed to be the most capable. I have found AnyList to be a huge help. So far what has been most helpful has been: A) Easy recipe importation, can pull from many sources. Also easy to share recipes with others, whether they have AnyList or not. It was easy to compile enough recipes to provide good variety. As a result we are eating less prepackaged food and have a healthier and more varied diet. My wife agrees. B) Clear recipe layout. This makes it easy to follow the recipe on screen while cooking. My wife agrees. I opted to disable screen timing-out while AnyList is in use. I have used recipe scaling several times as well. C) Easy grocery list generation. This took a couple learning attempts to more or less master in practice. I find it better to use, as much as possible, units of measure such as cups, ounces etc, rather than “eaches”, as it is easier to resize recipes and substitute items at the store if necessary. I need to do a bit more category customization and to create a list of sundry items not included in recipes. My wife disagrees. She still prefers making her shopping list from scratch on paper. She tried using a printout from AnyList and found it somewhat cumbersome. She would like to see the list compiled such that items do not repeat when called for by multiple recipes. Other on-line reviews have also mentioned this. I find shopping from the list on my mobile is much less cumbersome and repeated items are a negligible nuisance. Sometimes I like being reminded of the menu item and other times I am annoyed that this has crowded out notes I had added to the recipe ingredient. D) Recipe categories are nice. I found it useful to split vegetarian main dishes from non-vegetarian. I am trying to build a good library of vegetarian dishes. Other categories such as soups, salads, deserts etc make it easier to find recipes and to plan a weekly menu. At this point I am sold on AnyList and expect to rely on it more and to use more of its capabilities. I plan to upgrade to the family version and get both of us more fully on board.

Even years after I first started subscribing, I continue to have zero desire to wonder if there are better apps out there. Which is significant because I am the type who will download a huge amount of similar apps, choose one, and then either remain fiercely loyal or have so many things pop in to my head that I wish the app did that I’m constantly looking for a better app. My review from years ago had some feature requests. Those were worked in long ago. Don’t have any requests right now. The developers will find out when I do 😉. The app has grown a lot! No need to write more because all of the other reviews are super long!! Passionate users, great app. I never subscribe to anything except the family subscription for AnyList. That says a lot. Thanks guys!

I have been using the Complete version of AnyList for about 6 months and I absolutely love it! For starters, I created a multiple-category list before Christmas (gifts for others, homemade projects to complete, items to bake, etc.) to help me stay organized and focused. I actually have about 8 lists (e.g. things to do around house, categorized by room; project ideas that I can order by priority; shopping lists for non-grocery stores; old movies to watch when I have time; etc). Specifically I love that I can individually decide to use or not use categories. Its great that I can change and/or reorder categories as well as items within categories. Of course my main list is for groceries. There are many helpful tools within that list that I haven’t quite mastered (related to tracking prices, viewing by store, etc), but I know they’ll be great when I do. I love that I can check ingredients in a recipe and have them added to my grocery list, along with what recipe they’re for. Speaking of recipes, that component is awesome, especially being able to download recipes from websites. It’s great to have all my recipes with me in case I get an idea when I’m shopping. In addition to using the Meal Planner in advance, I also use it to track what I actually ate after the fact so I can monitor my nutritional input. The Help section is extremely, well, helpful. Once I sent a question to Tech Support and I heard back within a few hours (if not less). I downloaded the app to my desktop and appreciate that I can enter things using a keyboard instead of fingers on my phone. It’s so slick!! I wholeheartedly recommend AnyList Complete version.

My wife and I have AnyList on ALL of our portable devices(iPhones, iPads)! We have lists for grocery shopping (today, tomorrow, food projects and for different stores) and lists for travel (favorite restaurants, places to visit and things to take with). When we go into a store to shop, she goes in one direction me in another, when either picks an item from the list the list updates and there is no duplication. We both use the recipes (storing favorites by rating, internet searches, populating shopping lists and adjusting batch sizes and quantities . . . and Yes! Cooking). WE WOULD NOT! WANT TO DO WITHOUT THIS..........!

I’ve had this app for about a month and it’s been one of the most useful apps I’ve ever had! I signed up for the subscription and it is so worth it. I love being able to import recipes directly from the web, categorize them myself, and easily click on ingredients to make shopping lists that my husband and I can both change. You can even click a button to see ingredients quantities for modified serving size. Kudos to the developers for making a truly useful app!
