I have been using the macOS out by Devvon technologies.com for seven years. These products have steadily improved both and capabilities and interactivity between the different components. If you need OCR than you must get Devon office pro. We get 150 hours of use not just time from the first watch. This is more than enough time to decide if you want to. These programmers have been working on AI for A decade. The program can find and relations between the applications and photos and other information that you add and make those connections for you so that they are saying the next time you do that search. Simply amazing and indispensable.

I have been using the Mac version for over 10 years without any significant issues. I bought the iOS version almost a year ago and was frustrated with it especially with lack of iCloud sync. I installed the latest update and have been using it without any issues. As usual, it stores, organizes, and displays all types of files, and now I have my DEVONthink database always in sync on all my iMacs, MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad. The ability to lock the database on my mobile devices with a passcode and integration with Face ID is an added bonus. This is one of a handful of non- Apple apps that I cannot imagine living/working without.

Please also consider combining iOS share sheet and item action menu.

Glad to see iCloud sync FINALLY!
  • Editing a note will destroy rich text attributes

Colors and highlights can be viewed but get destroyed if I only edit some text. Labels are very cumbersome to add to an item because the menu is not user friendly (cannot distinguish between yellow and orange). My custom sorting from desktop will not sync to mobile. Smart folders from desktop also don't sync. The app is basically just a notes or PDF viewer app with integrated web browser.

I used to waste so much time searching for content I created or had collected. Was it in My Documents, Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, iCloud, SharePoint, Confluence, network drives... Recently I started using GoodNotes for handwritten note taking, because it will automatically backup those notes as searchable PDFs in my Box directory with categories as sub directories. This allows DEVONthink, to index my handwritten notes and I can find them based on keyword searches along with associated emails and documents. The Mac version of DEVONthink, gives me the ability to organize further based of AI analysis of unique words to help find related documents. I have been happy using DEVONthink for over a year now and highly recommend it.

Update: iCloud sync! Yes! Thank you! Dropbox sync has been wonky from time to time. I’m sure iCloud will be way better. Original: I keep everything other than media in this app. I control it not some shady cloud service. Wish the IAP were included but I get they need to pay bills. Sync could be documented a bit more clearly but once you get it set up it works. Still not really sure why iCloud won't work but I assume they have a good reason. It's the only reason I keep Dropbox around. Great app on my 7+ though. It's amazing to have all my files in my pocket. All the time. I'm always organized. Love it.

This application is absolutely indispensable and would be a bargain at twice the price. Tons of syncing options and incredible document management options.

This app is a lot like Evernote, but using your own storage, which is much safer. Plus, once you buy it, you OWN it. No per device licensing or plus plan required. I’d love to give a more informative review, but I’m just getting started with Devonthink. I’ll update review once I’m more familiar with it. It’s also a really awesome markdown editor. 👍🏼
