  • Great idea, some small tweaks

    By FrankieJayKay
My fiancé, friends, and I love hiking. This app is great due to its VAST supply of free maps ideal for hiking trails. The GPS location is great, I just wish there were a refresh button so that I could know for sure the app is actively updating my gps location. Besides that, we honestly do love it!
  • Use at work

Maps are very useful, but we need the ability to interface with maps on a desktop, and print them for presentation purposes. Assume at the Pro level.
  • Saves money and time

With Avenza on your phone you have a no reason to ever be lost again. The biggest plus is it shows what Forrest rds are closed or temp closed, thus saving you a fine.
  • Nice features, but horrible search engine

    By Photosynthetic
Don’t bother with this app unless you plan to upload your own maps. If you do, the PDF tracking features are great, and transferring a GeoPDF from e-mail just works — no trouble, no fuss. Unfortunately, the built-in map store is all but unusable. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it has *the* worst search engine I’ve ever seen. It’s extremely inaccurate. It has no apparent way to refine search terms (except a few built-in options, which aren’t much use given the rest). It doesn’t recognize quotation marks. There’s no way to exclude terms. I literally cannot find specific US national forest maps by searching the name of the forest — most of the time, they simply aren’t in the results. It’s incredibly frustrating to have such a potentially awesome app made unusable by search alone. Please, devs, *fix* it!
  • Great app. Simply awful store

    By Cpe111
The app is fantastic.... when you can find the right maps! The whole experience is severely let down by a very poor map store and quirky search facility. Fix this and it’s a 5 star app. Otherwise just mediocre.
  • Working well with Forest Service Maps

    By Aleurone
So far so good. Have been using with the Forest Service Motor Vehicle Use maps PDF versions downloaded to an old iPad2 with the GPS chip. Does a nice job displaying with good zoom and GPS tracking.
  • Download train wreck!!

I can across this app via a national park page for region maps. The app install went fine, easy to download the maps from the store THAT ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE iPhone, the QR code link from the National park page continually errored out. Couldn’t find the same map in the store from the device, signed in to the company site and had zero problem finding the map on the web site. Put it in the cart, checked out no problem. Get the confirmation email with instructions to go to the app and follow directions, except those directions don’t work. Back to the web page, on my downloaded map area there is a link to open the map in the app, that gave a QR code that actually worked. Suggestions, have your website inventory and device inventory match. Skip sending an email with directions that don’t work, instead send one with a QR code or link. I’m kind of dreading trying to use this app considering the customer experience thus far.
  • Pretty tough to find the exact map

    By gbogh4
Once You have the map it works great. But trying to find the exact amount and type is a pain both you searching by word or on the map finder
  • Works very well

Absolutely love this app. Works very well for the black hills of South Dakota. Now if Polaris would get these maps loaded in to the Ride Command life would be great.
  • Perfect App for Hiking

Combine Avenza Maps with good hiking maps on your phone for the perfect hiking companion. In the New York metro area, the hiking maps from the NY-NJ Trail Conference are the best. The maps are detailed and easy to use, and sync accurately to your location on the trail.
