  • New two device limit is a total turn off

Original Evernote was amazing useful, no device limit, less push towards going premium. I’m sure they lost many users after, including myself. So many notes apps do what Evernote premium does but for free.

After accidentally deleting a bunch of notes in the Notes app, I started using Evernote to save random bits of stuff I wanted to remember. Now I use it for everything. There are the occasional bugs but the developers are really good about fixing them right away.

For example, if you have a note in expanded view (full screen), leave the app and come back, it reloads and your note is no longer full screen or at the location you were last looking at it at. Sad. You’d expect more for $5+ a month.

I purchased the app five years ago and have all sorts of lists and schedules that I cannot access unless I start paying a monthly fee. I got a new phone and the app is holding my data hostage unless I pay. I should have just used the Notes app that is in the phone because it serves the same purpose. They could have at least notified me of the change in advance so I could capture critical data before the change. Disappointing.
  • Great, but new features are adding bloat

Generally one of my favorite apps, used for everything from writing research papers to keeping track of recipes. In the latest update the “Related Items” interface pops up way too fast. The addition of templates also seems to have slowed the process of getting started on a new note. Would be great to have “Don’t use templates” as the default or an optional setting.

I use Evernote across 4 devices (and thus I was charged premium without knowing). Okay, not a big deal. Evernote is constantly crashing. I just lost notes I spent hours taking. Not the first time this has happened. Annotation tool, one of the main purposes for using Evernote, is terrible. I’ll be seeking some new apps to keep my work organized, because this ain’t it. Very disappointed.
  • My notes fell into infinite loop

I cancelled one of devices to not pay premium But then the screen came back to that choosing a device to be cancelled. I think it has got into infinite loop.
  • Close, but one fatal flaw

Evernote is so very close to being the most useful app I have. It just has one problem: syncing. I have lost count of how many times I have typed out pages and pages worth of information on my iPad app, only to open the iPhone app and not see it there, at which point it is all gone. What is the point of a note taking app that makes the things you’re trying to remember vanish? There are so many great things about Evernote that this is hard to say, but I think I’m done. I’ll just back all my notes up to GDrive and start taking notes there. I really like Evernote and want it to work. But there are only so many times I can tolerate losing entire thoughts because this app can’t figure out how to sync between devices.
  • Horrible customer service

I was a paid subscriber for years. All of a sudden, I couldn’t get the app to stay open. It would crash before it fully opened. I contacted tech support Feb 24th. I was passed around 6 different tech support people all asking me the same questions and having try the same techniques. I would respond each time that I have followed their steps to the letter and it didn’t fix the problem. They finally said they would expedite my report to an upper tech. It was one of the same techs that responded again! Then the tech said the would send this to the developer. Unable to fix my problem they said I could cancel my subscription and get a refund, I paid for a year subscription. Not even three months in on a 12 month subscription. I followed the techs steps to cancel and receive a refund. iTunes denies my refund because they aren’t capable of going back more that 60 days in their system. iTunes says I need to get the refund from the developer. There’s no way to reach the developer. I send a message to tach regarding the problems trying to get a refund. No response. So frustrated and saddened. If I would have asked ITunes for a refund instead of trying to work with the techs, I would have at least received my refund.

Get rid of all the post-it notes and random notes on your calendar (electronic or paper) with reminders of things to do. Consolidate goals, accomplishments and worksheets into one easy- to-access tool. Evernote technology and availability on multiple platforms makes this a really great tool.
