PhaseDelayArray is an Audio Unit, or AU, for iOS. This application is simply a container for the Audio Unit and also serves as the documentation for the AU. PhaseDelayArray must be used in some sort of Audio Unit host or DAW application. PhaseDelayArray is a bit of a strange effect. O.K, so, what is it? PhaseDelayArray has three effect units chained together in an interesting configuration, and one of these units is just a little bit twisted. The first unit consists of a sequential array of vibrating (oscillating) reverberation sections. The oscillations can be tiny or huge. The reverb depth can be tiny or huge. The overall effect can be subtle or HUGE. It can create a wide range of sounds. The second section is a modulation unit. It takes the output of the PhaseDelays and whips it around, or up-and-down or back-and-forth. The final section is a feedback unit with the possibility of a lot of delay (up to 2 seconds). The mix section allows you to tap into all this strangeness in four different places. PhaseDelayArray can be used in mono-to-mono, mono-to-stereo, or stereo-to-stereo settings. Several of the features work best with a stereo output.

  • Causes “Undo” button to stop working

A cool fx app, sounds fun when used on stuff like guitars and other melodic instruments, and even some percussions too. However, if this is used as an effect on more than one track in Garageband, it causes the Undo button to not work. I took a lot of time to figure out why on certain project files I could not undo any of my actions (i press the button but nothing happens, rendering all changes permanent). Starting with a new file and systemically turning off & on different auv3 fx, I discovered it was the PhaseDelayArray. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but this is a serious glitch. Please assist or fix the bug!

Or a multiplexer hyper space ship. Weird and genius.

And not because of the price! Sounds good. Using a pair of Beat'sX earphones at the moment to get a better sense of the overall effects, but, it still comes through well enough with just the iPad speakers. Like the other apps this one will get used too. I wouldn't be surprised if Neon Silicon couldn't come up with something as good or better than the Blue Mango app that simulates moving the sound source(s) around the listener, and there is another similar app called VirtualRoom I believe. Like the handy Gyroviber, the PDA let's the user fiddle with preset parameters if they feel so inclined. Thanks.
