  • FANTASTIC app, with a few suggestions

    By ljhall9
I’m in LOVE with this app. It makes organization a breeze, and the UI is beautiful. This app has gotten me super into plants because I finally have a way to be organized in my approach, which makes having 30+ plants less intimidating. There are a couple suggestions I think would make the app a 5/5 for me: Ability to customize watering schedule rather than snooze (UPDATE- developer contacted me and this is already possible!) I’d like to see a list of ALL my plants in alphabetical order, rather than having to remember which room they are in and having to click several times. ability to sort alphabetically. Things seem to be stuck in the order to entered them (both sites and plants), but it would be convenient to be able to sort. When I’m going through the to-do list, I’ll water a plant, open my phone to mark “complete”, and it will reset to the come screen. There are generally a lot of extra unnecessary clicks. The plant ID feature works FANTASTIC for foliage, but I’ve had a 0% success rate for correctly IDing cacti or succulents. Propagation functionality- instructions are often slightly different and schedules and tasks won’t be exactly the same. This is a stretch ask, but integrating with local weather to let you know if you need to bring your plant in at night. Or more simply, a report that summarizes plants by their lowest temp threshold (40-45, 45-50, etc...) that way I could check the weather and then quickly see which plants need to come in below that lower threshold.
  • Lots to love, but needs work

There’s a lot to love about the Planta app. Besides being stylish and easy to use, it’s a great app for figuring out what plants you have, where to place them in your house, and when to water them. Overall, my plants have done quite well using Planta, but I did lose a plant as a result of following advice from Planta as part of the paid subscription. Here’s where I think Planta struggles. Plants in large pots seem to need less frequent watering than suggested, while plants in smaller pots seem to need more frequent watering. All my plants in medium size pots like the watering schedule. A pot size setting might be helpful. Another more troubling situation comes with the paid subscription. The watering schedule is not synced with the fertilizing and repotting suggestions. For example, two days after I was given a watering reminder for several plants, I was given a fertilizing suggestion for the same plants (which involves watering). I will wait to fertilize them until the next watering cycle. Same thing for repotting. I followed the suggestion to repot a ZZ plant which, per the instructions, involves watering. Shortly after that, Planta suggested I water that plant and although the soil was quite dry, it did not survive that second watering. I feel sad about that because I spent money for good advice and the advice ended up killing a previously gorgeous and healthy plant. So, that’s why I’m giving Planta only 3 stars. I would be delighted to come back and give it 5 stars if Planta is able to address some of these issues. I know plants are living beings and plant care is nuanced so, of course, even the best plant care app will never be perfect. However, I probably won’t renew my paid subscription unless some of the kinks are worked out. Anyhow, I still think Planta is pretty great and I’d love to see them evolve into being the best plant care app available!
  • From a fellow black thumb

I’ve never been good with plants, but I love having them; Planta is finally giving me the confidence and accountability to NOT kill them all this time!! I struggled a bit with the initial setup, figuring out which plants I had in particular - a lot were grocery store “assorted succulents” so I had to do that research on my own time, googling other plant websites and reaching out to green thumb friends. I do wish there was some more clarity on what to look out for or how to care for them, too, but since I don’t have Premium maybe that’s a feature there? For example, knowing how long to use a grow light on plants “not suited” to the location I currently have them in, or how to look out for scorched leaves and thirsty plants. Overall highly recommended though! I’m incredibly proud of my better plant parenting thanks to this app, and I tell friends and stranger about it all the time.

App is good but whatever you want to do you must pay

    By ._. :) hi
Overall this app is awesome. If you dont get the subscription it still offers so much. It reminds you when to water, it tells you good fertilizer, although it does not remind you when to fertilize it will tell you how often it needs to be done.

I love the planta app !! It reminds me when I need to water or care for my plants. It gives you instructions on each individual plant I have. You can look up plants before you go buy some or to get information on a newly boughten plant (s). This app is worth downloading 🌱🍃🌿😎
