  • Excellent source for excellent TV

The people who are complaining about missing seasons need to realize that for whatever reasons the Beeb did not save everything so it could show the videos again at some later date. The best example of that is the early episodes of "Doctor Who". This app contains all the episodes that the BBC and ITV have on file, with more coming. Two problems I've found with Britbox: 1. Scrolling through the episode index is a chore at the best of times, and doesn't let you continue on from there. For example, say you want to start your search with shows beginning with "D". Britbox starts your search there but doesn't let you continue with "E", "F", etc. 2. Autoplay must be optional. I don't always want to see the next episode of a series immediately.

crashes during viewing...will not play thru the entire show
  • Doesn’t work with Apple TV.

    By Mcterry65
It says it is “exclusively for US and Canada”. I’m in the US. Won’t expand to full size when I played on Apple TV. We canceled asap. Might be ok if you watch on a computer. Still only one star. I’ve wasted a couple hours messing with “BritBox”. No thanks.
  • Worst UI in the history of streaming!

    By RichardBennett
I’d rate the content 5 because I’ve watched a lot of Brit TV (wife’s from Nottingham) over the years and I know the library is top notch. But the app gets a 2 because the UI is sadistic. It has most of the elements Netflix and Amazon have - search, a list of shows to watch when you get around to it, and progress on individual shows - but it’s missing proper context between series and episodes. The app is missing an easy-to-implement feature: something like the Netflix Continue Viewing queue. You should see the series you’ve been watching grouped together, and you should be able to go directly to the next episode of each current series with one click. As it is, every evening you want to watch the next episode of Midsomer Murders or Cold Feet or Silent Witness, you need to select the series, then select the season, then scroll to the episode. The only help you get from the app is a blue progress bar on the episodes you've already watched once you get to the right season. This is very amateurish. The app is designed for binge watching one series at a time, but my preference is to watch one episode of three series in a given evening. The UI appears to have been designed by monkeys who don't actually watch TV. Perhaps it comes from a third world sweat shop where 10-year-old programmers are chained to their workstations and fed gruel once a day and whipped for missing deadlines. This is an after-effect of colonialism, obviously. The marketing team that wrote the spec for the UI needs to be sacked and replaced by people who’ve used more than one streaming app. The sweatshop programmers can write competent code, but they need direction. They’re not getting it from the Drones Club members warming seats at Britbox HQ today.
  • Requires a high speed connection.

Lots of good stuff here. App works well although usually use the Roku for streaming to television. If you like British comedies, mysteries, dramas, etc. this is one of two must have services.
  • Airynose

I like the programming options but I am real tired of programs crashing. We have to keep going to Acorn to finish program—if available. Why the crashes? You can do better.
  • Odd seasons available.

    By Beachwalker40
Appears that seasons are missing on many shows. Example, Heartbeat - season 1 & 18 are available. Vera, a few seasons are available but about 1/2 require you to subscribe to Acorn. I’ll keep an eye on this app to see if it improves. At this time I’m not willing to subscribe beyond trial period.
  • YES !!!!!

You finally added advance to the next episode! I kept losing my place and it was driving me bananas! I hope you add more content soon. Would love a live stream of the royal wedding!
  • shoddy app

    By denha_
the programming available via this service is good, but the app is literally and totally unusable. cancelled.
  • Auto-play is not a feature I want

Auto-playing the next episode is NOT a feature that I want. It puts up a garish intrusive countdown overlay that obscures what I was watching. If this feature is here to stay then please at least provide a preference setting so that I can turn it off.
