  • Great Program

    By Wanttolearndutch
I have used this program for many projects and find it to do the job very well. It works great for capturing videos and images. I find the panorama function most useful because many times the image is further down that just what is seen on the screen. I only wish I had gotten the latest version so that I could work with the word editing function. The company continues to send how-to information via e-mail. The only con I have is they keep sending notice that my free use is about to end and I need to purchase the Ap when I have done it already.
  • Works great…could use more features

One of the best cut and paste for the money. Could be better..
  • Slower than version 3 and MUCH buggier

I’m a tech writer and Snagit is one of my most important tools. Version 4 is considerably slower than Version 3. With version 3, I’d take a screenshot and it would be INSTANTLY editable. WIth this version, there’s a 2 second delay where Snagit says “processing files”. This may not seem like a lot, but when you do 100 screenshots a day it starts to add up after awhile. I have an iMac with 64 gb so there’s no memory issue. Also, the app doesn’t remember where you last saved an image. If you open “Save As …” a second time, you’re not in the same directory you were before as you are with most other apps. This means that EVERY time I need to save a screenshot on a network drive for work I have to traverse an enormous directory tree or just wait until I quit the app and then move my files later. Finally, the app locks up A LOT. About 1/3 of the time, Force Quit doesn’t work and I have to restart my Mac. If this app is fixed, I’ll upgrade this review, but am going to use the free app Greenshot for most of my basic screen capture needs.
  • A lot needs to be fixed...

    By ActionJacksonTheMainAttraction
This app is broken compared to version 3. I like the new interace, but… 1. The app doesn’t properly keep track of your undo history. You’ll undo things and it will completely miss what you did. For example, I made several changes to a file and when i went to undo, it reverted all the way back to the original image skipping over all the changes i made. I couldn’t redo it either. This becomes more apparent when the image files are large. You end up having to start over. 2. Selecting multiple items is wonky. They need to bring back a toolbar item just for selecting because if elements are overlapping you have to change the layer order just to select on them. 3. The “selection” toolbar option needs to be reworked. If you don’t get your selection square right the first time you have to start over. This makes it difficult to grab smaller pieces of your image. 4. Where did the drag feature go? I want to be able to drag stuff from the app to send without having to save it and then go find it.
  • Snagit updgrade

I upgraded to snagit 4 and I cannot use it now. I keep getting message that it the editor is in compatible. I have been working with Techsmith Support and still not working. I loved snagit have used it for years. This however is not making me happy.
  • Easy Peasy

This screen capture and markup app has everything you could possibly want. It is extremely intuitive and so easy to use. I use it all the time to capture screen shots or show a friend the steps to do something in a program. Oh, and you can go back and edit your captures as it keeps them visuable at the bottom of your screen. I will not list the features here as it does exactally what it says it does.
  • Love Snagit Before, Now it don

    By JT-2017
I have used Snagit a lot before, mostly on PC and in the last few years on Mac as well. Then I had to upgrade to Snagit 4 because it did not work on the newer Mac OS. Now it has the same issue and unable to capture anything. Just completely wasted money.
  • Love This App!

    By scolemon
Just switched from a Windows user to Mac and found the app quite different but still does everything I need! I love how fast and versatile it is. I love the ability to record “one time” webinars for future use! That alone makes it worth the price for me. I also love the way it allows you to get really granular with capturing graphics on the screen.
  • Why did you change this app??

    By FredinPC
This is not anything like the very useful previous SnagIt app. Needlessly complex and, quite frankly, I can’t figure out how it captures anything. Why do the writers of good software always have to change (and ruin) it?
  • It’s getting better, not as reliable as the previous version

I’d give this app 5 stars if it was the old version. This one is cooler looking, but less functional. The sufers from a few issues, a) navigating, clicking/dragging placed objects (like arrows and such) is not that easy. It seems to try and guess what you’re doing and half the time it’s wrong. b) copy and paste mulitple screen shots together? Well, if you mess one up and want to revert using Undo, you have to press Undu (CMD Z) multiple times to get back to where you were at before copying and pasting into the object. Especially if the object you are pasting is of different size. c) it doesnt hanlde layers as well as the old version, or at least it feels that way. d) Those buttons on top lead to differnet objects you can place on your snapshot. They felt more useful in the old version, or at least, more productive. This version seems to try to do too much. On the positive side, this most recent version is much better and has greatly improved on the areas that I mentioned above. I’m anxiously looking forward to the next release which I strongly believe will eventually have the issues above all sorted out. These guys do great work, I’d hire them to do my apps if I could.
