Description

The New Yorker Today app is the best way to stay on top of news and culture every day, and the magazine each week. Features: • Get a daily blend of in-depth reporting, political commentary, cultural criticism, and humor from the Web site. • Read each week’s magazine and browse past issues. • Receive alerts on breaking-news coverage by your favorite New Yorker writers. • Flip through a nearly endless supply of New Yorker cartoons using the Cartoon Randomizer tab. • Access The New Yorker Sticker Pack. Download the app, add the extension to iMessage, and liven up your texts with Christoph Niemann’s signature drawings and animations of city life. • Read articles off-line and save stories to finish later, on any device. The app is free to download. Subscribers receive unlimited access. Non-subscribers may access a limited number of articles each month. Most current New Yorker subscribers have unlimited access to the app as part of their existing subscription. Subscribers with a print-only subscription may not have unlimited access. Users who have trouble accessing unlimited stories, or who wish to upgrade their access level may call Customer Service at 1-800-967-2082. All users have unlimited access to the Cartoon Randomizer, which does not count toward the article limit for non-subscribers. All users have unlimited access to the Sticker Pack, which is free to download and requires iOS 10 or above. A subscription costs $8.99 a month or $89.99 annually, and includes a 30-day free trial, after which it will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period and will state the cost of renewal. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user’s account settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable. Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. The New Yorker Today app requires iOS 9 or above. The volume of material included in the archive is breathtaking.
  • Better than the magazine app but not perfect

As a subscriber I don't want to see ads in my app, and the magazine app at least keeps the print ads in while avoiding the annoying online ads. Otherwise, this app does everything much better than the magazine app.

I subscribe to The New Yorker yet can’t get any of the articles once my monthly limit is reached. I SHOULDN’T HAVE A MONTHLY LIMIT— I AM A SUBSCRIBER. Who do I call/email to get access to the internet content????
  • They just want your money!

This is a horrible deal even at $1 per week. It’s hard to determine the quality of the writing when a pop-up is continually popping up to tell you to subscribe or lag in. When I log in the same thing happens just seconds later. I finally read one whole article this morning but this afternoon the repeating pop up ruins any thoughts of a relaxing read. My advice: go to the library and read the paper version. That way you won’t get frustrated with the app and you will be out nothing financially.

The New Yorker is an excellent magazine that gives one in depth reporting on a wide range of subjects. Many subjects covered are ones you may not have had a previous interest in but upon exposure through the New Yorker you avidly read the articles and in some cases pursue further material to read.

Such a little fix and I’d be able use the app.
  • Disappointed

I’m surprised that the app literally do not have a reader mode and especially dark mode. You just have to rely upon default font, colour and background. Sad. Also, like browser, this app do not have the facility where if you tap on writer’s name, all his/her appear opens in a new page. This app sadly lacks this feature and I can’t find the work of specific writer inside the app beside one or two pieces. Disappointing.

I love reading this form of the magazine. Great curated articles, frequently updated columns.
  • They don’t get bookmarks

The latest release tried to improve on a useless feature. The NY needs to provide book marks within a story. This issue has been sent to the app developers a hundred times. They either can read English or don’t care or both.
