Couldn’t be more pleased. If you do a little work, you learn a great deal. German is not easy, but Babel makes conjugating verbs so simple you don’t realize you are doing it. It only takes weeks to make real progress in conversational German. I can’t wait to start studying Spanish. Pat
  • NOT FOR IPADS

The developers have not figured out the real estate on an iPad, making many of the lessons impossible to complete. I was liking the product, but its a drag when you cant see the paragraph you need to complete because the digital keyboard blocks your view. Still have not received an answer to my “contact me” question about it...Die erste Eindruck war night gut...
  • Bad interface with iPad

The requirement to type the correct word hides the picture asking for the word. Problem didn’t occur during the “test drive” before I purchased. Now, I have the task of getting my money back.
  • Diese App hat mir sehr geholfen

This app has helped me a lot. There is tons of content, and I’m finding it far more effective than the free learning apps out there. Their asking point of $10/month is very reasonable for what I’ve been getting out of it.
  • Can’t use gift card to pay

I wanted to take advantage of an offer I get every month, for 6 months free. The total cost is just over $44.00. I tried using a $50.00 VISA Gift card and it was denied. I guess that means they don’t want your business unless they can get a credit card so they can automatically renew your subscription. No thank you Babbel.

Look else ware after first couple of lessons too much conversations not pertaining to lessons, very confusing. I was interested in conversational German due to going to Germany. After paying for this I am looking else ware to get by.
  • Not For 'course for a vacation'

I was seeking a 10 hour course to learn basic communication for a vacation. This is an depth course for one wanting to learn the entire language. Oh, and it's a monthly subscription. I missed that part of the pricing.
  • Enjoying it a lot

Unlike the previous reviewer who feels entitled to free knowledge at the hands of hard working language app developers, I am enjoying the app a lot. I can do a few lessons when I have time each day. I have tried learning German for the past 30 years and understand some, but have a desire to learn more. I have Rosetta Stone, but actually like this more. I was reluctant to buy Babbel, but feel I'm getting better already in the past 3 weeks. The German friend I text with most frequently has noticed an improvement as well. Now the constructive criticism: The voice recognition lessons are a bit frustrating. Although I know I am pronouncing sentences correctly, it often times "fails" me. (Sensitive to background noises maybe?) When I use the keypad and switch to the Number/Symbol pad, the key to switch back to "ABC" still shows ".?123". This should be corrected in a future update. Otherwise, keep up the good work.
  • Pretty bad

I was impressed with the teachings and I felt that this would really help me, but then I realized that I had to pay for all the lessons. I was sad when I learned that I would have to pay to learn a language when it should be free!
